On Monday, April 3rd, 2023 – the Aurora R-8 Board of Education hired MR. JAMES HOFFMAN as the District’s Activities Director. Mr. Hoffman has been at Aurora for twelve (12) years –
throughout this time, he has taught Social Studies, Physical Education and In-School Suspension.
Mr. Hoffman has coached several sports and is currently the Head Baseball Coach. Mr. Hoffman
will begin duties on August 1, 2023. Mr. Hoffman will continue as Baseball coach through the
2024 Baseball season, then step down to focus fully on the Activities Director duty. Facilitating
the district’s safety response plans and sharing details regarding Staff Wellness will also be
included in this duty.
The district received fifteen (15) applications for this position; a committee of Mr. Scott Spooner,
AJH Principal; Mr. DJ Gutscher, AHS Assistant Principal and Dr. Ben Yocom, incoming Aurora R-8 Superintendent screened the applicants and conducted interviews.
Incoming Superintendent Dr. Ben Yocom shared the following: “Mr. Hoffman is fully dedicated to the Aurora R-8 School District and Aurora community. His significant success as a coach, plus his background in a variety of areas make him the perfect candidate for this position. His outstanding work ethic and attention to detail will serve him well. He understands the vital importance of ACTIVITIES in a student’s individual academic experience! The SKY is literally the LIMIT!”
